The combination of tenacious defense and harsh winter conditions stopped the advance, and the offensive ground to a halt. Unprepared for the harsh Russian winter, the Wehrmacht had to fight for survival. A Soviet counteroffensive began rolling westward on December 5th.
Objectives: Your company scrambles to respond to a sudden attack. Your platoon, positioned near a cluster of dwellings on the road, must defeat any enemy attempting to push westward. Hold your position until the rest of the company moves to support you. If the enemy is forced to retreat, a limited pursuit may be undertaken, but the first priority is to keep all enemy out of the defensive perimeter.
